About the Project

The Village of Wappingers Falls is undertaking a Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan (LWRP). The project is structured to bring together a variety of local planning initiatives for the community. The LWRP will create an action plan that will serve as a phased map for its revitalization based upon its industrial and architectural heritage.  In addition to identification of opportunities for improved waterfront access, downtown revitalization, and improvements to the neighborhoods, the plan will address enhancements to the Route 9 Corridor.

This plan has been made possible by a grant awarded to the Village New York State Department of State, Division of Coastal Resources under Title 11 of the Environmental Protection Fund Act. The grant requires the Village to match all funds awarded on a 50/50 basis. To facilitate the completion of the plan, the Village selected the consultant team of Elan Planning, Design, and Landscape Architecture and the Pouder Design Group. In addition, the Dutchess County Planning Department has offered their services to facilitate the identification of improvements to the Route 9 Corridor.
